Tim has been involved in the golf industry since his youth and continues to embrace the golf business with passion, hard work and dedication to service.  His start in the industry began in his native Kansas City where he worked as a crew member at Milburn Golf and Country Club.  Even though he as he was studying biology in college at the time, he developed a keen interest in golf course maintenance.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Rockhurst College, Tim continued his formal education by attending turf school.

 

Tim is a graduate of the Turfgrass Management Program at Pennsylvania State University. He graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA, earning academic scholarships from four different organizations. Tim also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rockhurst College with a minor in business.  A 33 year member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), Tim has achieved professional certification through the GCSAA as a Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS).   Tim has also achieved professional certification through the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) as a Master Greenkeeper (MG), there are only 50 Master Greenkeepers worldwide. Fewer than 20 individuals worldwide hold the dual certification of CGCS, MG.

 

As the Superintendent at Naperville Country Club, Tim was the Project Manager responsible for oversite of an $8.5 million dollar golf course renovation project.  The project received national acclaim, winning four different "best in class" awards from a variety of organizations.  Following completion of the renovation project The Board of Directors looked to expand Tim's scope of responsibilities by asking him to accept the role of GM/COO.  This new role allowed Tim to utilize his skills to their full potential as he developed new operating procedures, trimmed expenses, generated revenue, enhanced member communications, and drove member retention.  With Tim's strong background in both maintenance and management, he is a sought-after, well respected professional who is a valuable asset to his club and its members.

 

Tim is active in a variety of local and national associations.  He is a published author; with numerous articles that have appeared in local and national trade publications.  Tim has been awarded the Ray Gerber Editorial Award three times, is a recipient of the Leo Feser Editorial Award and the Turf and Ornamental Communication Award.  Tim is very active with the Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents (MAGCS); he served on the Board of Directors for 9 years and was President of the association in 2007.

 

During his 35 year career Tim has had the privilege of working over 25 local, national, and international golf competitions.  This experience was gained while fulfilling a variety of different roles including; Host Superintendent, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, GM, or as a volunteer on the grounds crew assisting his fellow Superintendents.   These events include; three PGA Senior Tour events, The USGA Mid-Amateur qualifier, The USGA Women's Open Qualifier, The Ryder Cup, The PGA Championship, The US Open, The US Senior Open, The Walker Cup, The Solheim Cup, and the BMW Championship.

 

Tim and his wife Linda reside in Naperville with their two daughters Rachel and Hannah.  Rachel is in her third year of medical school at Rush and Hannah lives in Dallas where she performs as a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader while at the same time working toward completion of her masters degree in psychology.  Tim and Linda have been married for 31 years.  Linda is a physician with Edward Medical Group.  She is on staff at Edward Hospital, where she serves as President of the Medical Staff.

Tim believes in giving back to the industry and has worked to advance the image of the golf course superintendent profession with the local and national community. He is a member of many industry associations and has worked his way through the ranks at the Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents, culminating with his term as President of the association. During his tenure, he promoted the association with much success and also wrote many articles addressing the key issues the profession faces today.
